1st (official) Spring ride

Not counting the commute that is. Anyway, I was REALLY hoping to hit the trails, but the rains on Saturday night nixed that plan. So plan B was to head to Manhattan and see if my former TNT colleagues were spinning in the park. I know the training for both Montauk and Tahoe is happening right now, so I thought my chances were pretty good.
Wrong. Little did I know the park had been comandeered for a 1/2 marathon. I did one circle & boogied. Anyway, I share a few pics...

Hidden in the crap that is Queens Plaza (no, it's coming back! Really!) is this gem. Two millstones that date back to 1657, when there was a Dutch grist mill on the site. Now sunken into an island in a parking lot. How many folks do you think even notice these?

This only LOOKS like a winter's worth of off-roading. All this muck is the result of one commute ride. All the winter residue on the streets of NY stick to the bike like glue. And me with no hose...
And finally, guys with kilts and balloons. My guess was some sort of scottish-themed wedding in the park. Nope. They were representatives of the scottish tourism board handing out brochures. Till next time...
